Guidance and Counselling

Department

Our aim is to enhance the wellbeing of students and offer psychosocial support to enable them concentrate on working towards achievement of their academic goals. As a department, we endeavor to achieve this by putting in place a dynamic group of peer counsellors on the ground who work hand in hand with the head of department.

This initiative has proved efficient because what we cannot do as teachers, the peer counsellors are better placed to handle it as fellow students. Alongside this, a team of professional counsellors does visit the school on Saturdays and Sundays for personal therapy of students who have expressed the need for it. As a teacher counsellor, I can attest that this initiative has yielded tremendous fruits; since I have seen, students grow out of the issues that bind them and push them towards mental disruption, into responsible happy and focused people. For this, we remain grateful to the school administration for making it possible. Indeed, Guidance and Counselling department in St Mary’s School Runda is such a vibrant Department with several activities running, all aimed at promoting wellness of students.
