Technical

Department

Our department consists of three subjects: Computer studies, Business studies and Agriculture. Technical subjects are not compulsory subjects and therefore students are allowed to choose any of them in form two first term.

The economic prosperity of a country is based on the education and technical expertise of its population. Our Kenyan government has highly invested in supporting TVET- Technical and Vocational Education Training. As a school offering secondary education, we value education that is technical in nature and aimed at providing skills that enable people to get jobs and a livelihood. This gives reasons as to why we offer subjects such as agriculture, computer studies and business studies. Knowledge and skills gained by studying agriculture can open opportunities for students to venture into production, processing, promotion and distribution of agricultural products, thus promoting employment opportunities as well as the economic growth of our country.

We encourage students to have a positive attitude towards bee keeping, poultry farming, dairy farming, mushroom arbitrary, cash and food crop production and forestry. Some of the skills gained by learning business studies include strategic thinking, communication, problem solving, organization, presenting, reporting, leadership and project management. These skills promote self-employment, solving challenges of business today and opening one to many career opportunities like financing, accounting, marketing and advertising. The technological advancement in the world leaves every student who takes computer studies in school better placed. There are a lot of skills gained and many job opportunities in the IT industry like software engineers, hardware engineers, app developers, web developers, system architects, project engineers, software testers and so on.

Our mission as a department is to achieve excellent grades and results. Our vision is to create tomorrow’s leaders who can contribute to the well-being of the society. We have allied activities to provide comprehensive education for students. It prepares them to be technically well off, to be critical thinkers and productive citizens. We inculcate a sense of pride and confidence in our students to face the challenges of the ever-changing technological innovations especially in computer studies. We believe in hard work and we have competent teachers who are self-motivated to transform our students and equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge relevant to careers related to the three technical subjects. I am confident that our students will continue justifying the credibility of the department by producing excellent results. My sincere thanks to teachers and students who contribute to the success of the department. It remains a privilege to be the head of a department with highly motivated personnel, who are prepared to go the extra mile.
